Pharmacy Technician Associations
NPTA, the National Pharmacy Technician Association, is the world's largest professional organization established specifically for pharmacy technicians. The association is dedicated to advancing the value of pharmacy technicians and the vital roles they play in pharmaceutical care. In a society of countless associations, we believe it takes much more than a mission statement to meet the professional needs and provide the needed leadership for the pharmacy technician profession - it takes action and results.
The organization is composed of pharmacy technicians practicing in a variety of practice settings, such as: retail, independent, hospital, mail-order, home care, long term care, nuclear, military, correctional facility, formal education, training, management, sales and many more. NPTA is a reflection of this diverse profession and provides unparalleled support and resources to our members.
AAPT was the first Pharmacy Technician Association and we remain a Not-For-Profit Association. Our Association began in 1979 with volunteer pharmacy technicians and today we are still run by volunteer pharmacy technicians. AAPT continues to serve the interests of ALL pharmacy technicians through our Executive Board, Committees, the National Office and our Chapters. As the role of the pharmacy technician expands, AAPT continues to be an active participant in making decisions which affect changes at all levels of our profession.
Founded in 1999, the Council on Credentialing in Pharmacy (CCP) is now a coalition of 11 national pharmacy organizations committed to providing leadership, guidance, public information, and coordination for credentialing programs in or relevant to pharmacy.

Our members instruct and administer a variety of types of technician training programs, with a membership that includes pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, allied health educators, nurses, and consultants. This diversity is a strength of PTEC in that it gives members access to a network of practicing educators across the United States and Canada.
Founded in 1904, the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP) aims to ensure the public’s health and safety through its pharmacist license transfer and pharmacist competence assessment programs, as well as through its Digital Pharmacy, formerly known as Verified Internet Pharmacy Practice Sites® (VIPPS®), Drug Distributor formerly known as Verified-Accredited Wholesale Distributor® (VAWD®), and DMEPOS Pharmacy accreditation programs.
